History of the House

It really does go way back to my two first loves: history – in the wonderfully nerdy form of re-enactments, recreations, & dioramas, and theatre. I remember as a kid telling my mom I wanted to turn an abandoned local Tudor-school building into a 'History House' for exhibitions & events!
And I've always been drawn to the notion of 'house' – as a safe space, with all the warmth that implies, but also as a safe space for danger. As a playhouse for experimenting & exploring. And as a 'public house' that can function as a sort of inn at the crossroads, where worlds cross paths – because I've also always felt most comfortable between communities, hosting their interaction.
Finally, my work as a freelance publication designer led me naturally to the idea of a production & publishing house as a way to gather my own activities under one roof, varied as they are, as well as a way to help produce projects by friends and associates that I think are important & exciting.
